Martin & Omm Peel
2021-Present
May 2021 Martin & Omm took over the operations of the 16th-century, Grade II-listed Bull’s Head inn in Wootton Wawen and has been the landlord for nearly 5 years. The Bulls Head has been rescued by Martin and Omm Peel who are determined that it remains a village pub providing a high standard of customer service with a menu of both traditional and authentic Thai dishes. The Bulls Head is proudly run as an independent pub, without the influence of large chains, they have the freedom to focus on quality, community and individuality.
In April 2024, landlord Martin Peel commissioned veteran signwriter Phil Taylor to paint an eight-foot Hereford bull on the side of the pub . Nicknamed “Eddie”, was designed to make the Grade II-listed inn stand out after years of being mistaken for a large house. Painted in a traditional hand-finished style rather than using modern vinyls, Eddie quickly became a local landmark, drawing praise from villagers and visitors. However, Stratford District Council argued the artwork breached listed-building planning rules and ordered its removal, sparking a row that saw over 1,500 people sign a petition to save it. Backed by the parish council and widespread community support, Martin eventually won permission in early 2025 to keep the mural.
